PETER DUNNE won Ohariu with a 930 vote majority on the night.

The United Future leader waited until there were just 500 votes left to count before facing the media to give his victory speech.

Labour first-timer Virginia Andersen came second with 11,349 electorate votes and National’s Brett Hudson third with 5,227.

Although National  won enough seats to govern alone, Peter Dunne hopes a re-elected John Key will still have a spot for him.
